This Surah takes its' name from verse 112 in which the word mai'dah occurs. Like the names of many other surahs, this name has no special relation to the subject of the Surah but has been used merely as a symbol to distinguish it from other surahs.

Surah Al-Ma'idah · Den Himmelska Måltiden

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

  1. Ayah 68

    قُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ حَتَّىٰ تُقِيمُوا التَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنجِيلَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۗ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا ۖ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

    Säg: "Ni står inte på [fast] grund, efterföljare av äldre tiders uppenbarelser, så länge ni inte [i allt] följer Tora och Evangeliet liksom det som er Herre [nu] har uppenbarat för er." Men det som din Herre [nu] har uppenbarat för dig [Muhammad] gör helt säkert många av dem ännu övermodigare och förhärdar dem i deras otro. Men sörj inte över förnekarna!

  2. Ayah 69

    إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالصَّابِئُونَ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

    De som tror [på denna Skrift] och de som bekänner den judiska tron och sabierna och de kristna - ja, [alla] som tror på Gud och den Yttersta dagen och som lever ett rättskaffens liv - skall förvisso få sin fulla lön av sin Herre och de skall inte känna fruktan och ingen sorg skall tynga dem.

  3. Ayah 70

    لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا ۖ كُلَّمَا جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًا كَذَّبُوا وَفَرِيقًا يَقْتُلُونَ

    VI SLÖT Vårt förbund med Israels barn och Vi sände sändebud till dem. Var gång ett sändebud kom till dem med [budskap] som inte föll dem i smaken [vände de honom ryggen] - några kallade de lögnare och andra slår de ihjäl.

  4. Ayah 71

    وَحَسِبُوا أَلَّا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ فَعَمُوا وَصَمُّوا ثُمَّ تَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ عَمُوا وَصَمُّوا كَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ

    De trodde att inga prövningar skulle drabba dem och så slöt de ögon och öron [för sanningen]. Gud tog därefter emot deras ånger, men sedan slöt många av dem ögon och öron [på nytt]. Gud ser vad de gör.

  5. Ayah 72

    لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَقَالَ الْمَسِيحُ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ

    De som säger: "Gud är Kristus, Marias son" förnekar sanningen; Kristus sade [själv]: "Israeliter! Dyrka Gud, min Herre och er Herre." Gud utestänger den från paradiset som sätter medhjälpare vid Guds sida och Elden skall bli hans sista hemvist. För [dessa] syndare finns ingen hjälpare.

  6. Ayah 73

    لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَاثَةٍ ۘ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّا إِلَـٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۚ وَإِن لَّمْ يَنتَهُوا عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

    De som säger: "Gud är den tredje av ett tretal" förnekar sanningen - ingen annan gud finns än Gud, den Ende. Och om de inte upphör med sina påståenden, kommer de bland dem som yttrar dessa hädelser förvisso att drabbas av ett plågsamt straff.

  7. Ayah 74

    أَفَلَا يَتُوبُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

    Varför ångrar de sig inte och ber om Hans förlåtelse? Gud är ständigt förlåtande, barmhärtig.

Meccan Surahs

The Meccan Surahs are the earliest revelations sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). They were revealed in Mecca, hence their name. These revelations form the foundation of the Islamic faith and contain guidance for Muslims on how to live their lives. The Meccan Surahs are also notable for their poetic beauty and lyrical prose.

Medinan Surahs

The Medinan Surahs are the later Surahs that, according to Islamic tradition, were revealed in Medina after the Prophet Muhammad's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) hijra from Mecca. They were revealed by Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) when the Muslim community was larger and more developed, as opposed to their minority position in Mecca.
