About this Surah

This Surah comprises several discourses which were revealed on different occasions during the period ranging probably between the end of A.H. 3 and the end of A.H. 4 or the beginning of A.H. 5. Although it is difficult to determine the exact dates of their revelations, yet it is possible to assign to them a fairly correct period with the help of the Commandments and the events mentioned therein and the Traditions concerning them.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

  1. Ayah 82

    أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ ۚ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ اللَّهِ لَوَجَدُوا فِيهِ اخْتِلَافًا كَثِيرًا

    Ägnar de ingen eftertanke åt det som Koranen [innehåller]? De skulle säkert ha funnit många motsägelser i den, om den inte varit från Gud.

  2. Ayah 83

    وَإِذَا جَاءَهُمْ أَمْرٌ مِّنَ الْأَمْنِ أَوِ الْخَوْفِ أَذَاعُوا بِهِ ۖ وَلَوْ رَدُّوهُ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَإِلَىٰ أُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَنبِطُونَهُ مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَاتَّبَعْتُمُ الشَّيْطَانَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

    OCH NÄR ett [rykte] som gäller fred eller krig kommer till deras kännedom, skyndar de sig att sprida det. Om de [i stället] genast underrättade Sändebudet och dem i deras gemenskap åt vilka anförtrotts myndighet och ansvar skulle de bland dem som [sysslar med att] utforska sanningen kunna klarlägga [ryktets betydelse]. Om inte Gud i Sin nåd hade förbarmat Sig över er skulle ni helt visst ha slutit er till Djävulen, alla utom ett fåtal.

  3. Ayah 84

    فَقَاتِلْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَا تُكَلَّفُ إِلَّا نَفْسَكَ ۚ وَحَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۖ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَكُفَّ بَأْسَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ وَاللَّهُ أَشَدُّ بَأْسًا وَأَشَدُّ تَنكِيلًا

    Kämpa därför [Muhammad] för Guds sak - du svarar bara för dig själv - och ingjut lugn och dödsförakt hos de troende. Kanske hejdar Gud förnekarnas framfart; Guds slag faller hårdast och Hans straff är av exemplarisk stränghet.

  4. Ayah 85

    مَّن يَشْفَعْ شَفَاعَةً حَسَنَةً يَكُن لَّهُ نَصِيبٌ مِّنْهَا ۖ وَمَن يَشْفَعْ شَفَاعَةً سَيِّئَةً يَكُن لَّهُ كِفْلٌ مِّنْهَا ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّقِيتًا

    Den som ingriper i och stöder en god sak får dela dess [goda följder], och den som ingriper i och stöder en orättfärdig sak får bära [en del av] ansvaret för dess [onda följder]. Gud har allt i Sin hand.

  5. Ayah 86

    وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوا بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا أَوْ رُدُّوهَا ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَسِيبًا

    När någon riktar en hälsning till er, besvara den då med en hövligare hälsning eller med samma ord. Gud håller räkning på allt.

  6. Ayah 87

    اللَّهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۗ وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حَدِيثًا

    Gud - det finns ingen gud utom Han - skall helt visst samla er åter på Uppståndelsens dag; det står utom allt tvivel. Vems ord är sannare än Guds

  7. Ayah 88

    فَمَا لَكُمْ فِي الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَاللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوا ۚ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَهْدُوا مَنْ أَضَلَّ اللَّهُ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُ سَبِيلًا

    Hur är det möjligt att ni kan ha skilda meningar om hycklarna, som Gud har låtit återfalla [i öppen otro] på grund av deras ogärningar? Vill ni leda dem som Gud har låtit gå vilse? Den som Gud låter gå vilse kan du aldrig leda på rätt väg.

Meccan Surahs

The Meccan Surahs are the earliest revelations sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). They were revealed in Mecca, hence their name. These revelations form the foundation of the Islamic faith and contain guidance for Muslims on how to live their lives. The Meccan Surahs are also notable for their poetic beauty and lyrical prose.

Medinan Surahs

The Medinan Surahs are the later Surahs that, according to Islamic tradition, were revealed in Medina after the Prophet Muhammad's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) hijra from Mecca. They were revealed by Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) when the Muslim community was larger and more developed, as opposed to their minority position in Mecca.
