About this Surah

Al-Baqarah (the Cow) has been so named from the story of the Cow occurring in this Surah (67-73). It has not, however, been used as a title to indicate the subject of the Surah. It will, therefore, be as wrong to translate the name Al-Baqarah into "The Cow" or "The Heifer" as to translate any English name, say Mr. Baker, Mr. Rice, Mr. Wolf etc., into their equivalents in other languages or vice versa, because this would imply that the Surah dealt with the subject of "The Cow". Many more Surahs of the Quran have been named in the same way because no comprehensive words exist in Arabic (in spite of its richness) to denote the wide scope of the subject discussed in them. As a matter of fact all human languages suffer from the same limitation.

Surah Al-Baqarah · The Cow

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

  1. Ayah 100

    أَوَكُلَّمَا عَاهَدُوا عَهْدًا نَّبَذَهُ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

    A thua çdoherë që japin ndonjë premtim – disa prej tyre e refuzojnë, ndërsa shumica prej tyre nuk besojnë.

  2. Ayah 101

    وَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ نَبَذَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

    Kur ju erdhi atyre Pejgamberi i Zotit (Muhammedi), vërtetues i librit që kanë ata, një grup i tyre, të cilëve iu dha Libri, gjoja se nuk e dinin për të, e hodhën pas shpine Librin e Zotit (Teuratin).

  3. Ayah 102

    وَاتَّبَعُوا مَا تَتْلُو الشَّيَاطِينُ عَلَىٰ مُلْكِ سُلَيْمَانَ ۖ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ كَفَرُوا يُعَلِّمُونَ النَّاسَ السِّحْرَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِ بِبَابِلَ هَارُوتَ وَمَارُوتَ ۚ وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلَا تَكْفُرْ ۖ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِ ۚ وَمَا هُم بِضَارِّينَ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا لَمَنِ اشْتَرَاهُ مَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ ۚ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا بِهِ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ

    (Jehuditë e braktisën Teuratin) dhe shkonin pas shpifjeve që bënin djajt kundër mbretërisë së Sulejmanit. E Sulejmani nuk ishte mohues, por djajt ishin mohues, që u mësonin njerëzve magjinë dhe dijeninë që u ishte dërguar dy ëngjujve në Babiloni – Harutit e Marutit. Këta ëngjuj nuk i mësonin ndokujt magji pa i thënë: “Na vetëm provojmë, dhe ti mos u bën mohues!” Dhe njerëzit mësuan nga këta dy se si t’i ndajnë bashkëshortët. Por magjistarët – pa lejen e Zotit nuk mund t’i bënin dëm askujt. Njerëzit megjithatë mësonin ato gjëra që i dëmtojnë e nuk u bëjnë dobi; dhe me të vërtetë e dinin se ai që e ka përvetësuar këtë mjeshtri nuk do të ketë kurrfarë të mire në jetën tjetër. E sa e keqe është ajo shit-blerje me magji. Oh! Sikur ta dinin ata?!

  4. Ayah 103

    وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا وَاتَّقَوْا لَمَثُوبَةٌ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ ۖ لَّوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ

    Dhe sikur ata (Hebrenjt) të besonin dhe të druanin, shpërblimi i Perëndisë do të ishte më i mirë (të cilën e merituan prej besimit). Oh! Sikur ta dinin ata!

  5. Ayah 104

    يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَقُولُوا رَاعِنَا وَقُولُوا انظُرْنَا وَاسْمَعُوا ۗ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

    O besimtarë! Mos thuani: “Ráiná”, por thuani: “Undhurná”, - shikona neve dhe dëgjoni! E, për mohuesit ka dënim pikëllues.

  6. Ayah 105

    مَّا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَلَا الْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ

    Nuk duan mohuesit: ithtarët e Librit dhe paganët, që t’u zbresë juve ndonjë e mirë nga Zoti juaj. E, Perëndia, mëshirën e vet ia dhuron kujt të dojë; Perëndia është pronar i mirësisë së madhe.

  7. Ayah 106

    مَا نَنسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنسِهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِّنْهَا أَوْ مِثْلِهَا ۗ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

    Na nuk i mohojmë ligjet e as nuk i lëmë që të harrohen ato, e ejellim ndonjë tjetë rmë të mirë ose të ngjashëm me të (e me të vërtetë), ti e di se Perëndia është i plotëfuqishëm.

Meccan Surahs

The Meccan Surahs are the earliest revelations sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). They were revealed in Mecca, hence their name. These revelations form the foundation of the Islamic faith and contain guidance for Muslims on how to live their lives. The Meccan Surahs are also notable for their poetic beauty and lyrical prose.

Medinan Surahs

The Medinan Surahs are the later Surahs that, according to Islamic tradition, were revealed in Medina after the Prophet Muhammad's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) hijra from Mecca. They were revealed by Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) when the Muslim community was larger and more developed, as opposed to their minority position in Mecca.
