The Surah takes its name from V. 98, in which there is a reference to Prophet Yunus (Jonah). The name, as usual, is symbolical and does not indicate that the Surah deals with the story of Prophet Jonah.

Surah Yunus · Jonás

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Verses around 10:79

  1. Ayah 76

    فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ

    Cuando les llegó Mi Mensaje dijeron: "Esto es claramente hechicería".

  2. Ayah 77

    قَالَ مُوسَىٰ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَكُمْ ۖ أَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَا وَلَا يُفْلِحُ السَّاحِرُونَ

    Moisés dijo: "¿Esto es lo que dicen cuando les llega la Verdad? ¿Qué es hechicería? Los hechiceros no tendrán éxito".

  3. Ayah 78

    قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَلْفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا الْكِبْرِيَاءُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

    Dijeron: "¿Han venido para alejarnos de la religión de nuestros padres, y así ser ustedes dos quienes tengan el dominio en la tierra? Nosotros no les creeremos".

  4. Ayah 79

    وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ائْتُونِي بِكُلِّ سَاحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ

    El Faraón dijo: "Convoquen ante mí a todo hechicero experto".

  5. Ayah 80

    فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ

    Cuando se presentaron los magos, Moisés les dijo: "Arrojen lo que tengan que arrojar".

  6. Ayah 81

    فَلَمَّا أَلْقَوْا قَالَ مُوسَىٰ مَا جِئْتُم بِهِ السِّحْرُ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَيُبْطِلُهُ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

    Y cuando arrojaron [sus bastones, poniendo un hechizo en los ojos de la gente], Moisés dijo: "Lo que hacen es hechicería y Dios la va a anular. Dios no permite que prosperen las obras de los que siembran la corrupción.

  7. Ayah 82

    وَيُحِقُّ اللَّهُ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ

    Dios confirma la verdad con Sus palabras, aunque eso disguste a los pecadores".

The Quran

Meccan Surahs

The Meccan Surahs are the earliest revelations sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). They were revealed in Mecca, hence their name. These revelations form the foundation of the Islamic faith and contain guidance for Muslims on how to live their lives. The Meccan Surahs are also notable for their poetic beauty and lyrical prose.

Medinan Surahs

The Medinan Surahs are the later Surahs that, according to Islamic tradition, were revealed in Medina after the Prophet Muhammad's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) hijra from Mecca. They were revealed by Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) when the Muslim community was larger and more developed, as opposed to their minority position in Mecca.
