Tafsir (Commentary)

Name

The Surah takes its name from the word al-waqi\`ah of the very first verse.

Period of Revelation

According to the chronological order that Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas has given of the Surahs, first Surah Ta Ha was sent down, then Al-Waqi'ah and then Ash-Shu\`ara'(Suyuti: Al-Itqan). The same sequence has been reported from Ikrimah (Baihaqi: Dala'il an Nubuwwat).

This is supported also by the story that Ibn Hisham has related from Ibn Ishaq about the affirmation of the Faith by Hadrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). It says that when Hadarat Umar entered his sister's house, Surah Ta Ha was being recited. Hearing his voice the people of the house hid the pages of the Qur'an. Hadrat Umar first seized his brother-in-law and then his sister rose in defense of her husband, he hit her also and wounded her on the head. When Umar saw blood on his sister, he was sorry for what he had done, and said to her: "Show me the manuscript that you have concealed so that I may see what it contains." The sister said: "You are unclean because of your polytheism: wa anna-hu la yamassu-ha ill-at-tahir : "Only a clean person can touch it." So, Hadrat Umar rose and washed himself, and then took up the manuscript to read it. This shows that Surah Al-Waqi'ah had been sent down by that time for it contains the verse: La yamassu hu ill al mutahharun ; and it had been established historically that Hadrat Umar embraced Islam after the first migration to Habash, in the fifth year of the Prophethood.

Theme and Subject Matter

Its theme is the Hereafter, Tauhid and refutation of the Makkan disbelievers' suspicions about the Qur'an. What they regarded as utterly incredible was that Resurrection would ever take place, then the entire system of the earth and heavens would be upset, and when all the dead would be resurrected and called to account, after which the righteous would be admitted to Paradise and the wicked cast into Hell. They regarded all this as imaginary, which could not possibly happen in actual fact. In answer to this, it was said: "When the inevitable event will take place, there will be none to belie its happening, nor will anyone have the Power to avert it, nor prove it to, be an unreal happening. At that time all peoples will be divided into three classes: (1) The foremost in rank and position; (2) the common righteous people and (3) those who denied the Hereafter and persisted in disbelief and polytheism and major sins till the last." How these three classes of the people will be rewarded and punished has been described in detail in vv. 7-56.

Then, in vv. 57-74 arguments have been given, one after the other, to prove the truth of the two basic doctrines of Islam, which the disbelievers were refusing to accept, viz. the doctrines of Tauhid and the Hereafter. In these arguments, apart from every thing else that exists in the earth and heavens, man's attention has been drawn to his own body and to the food that he eats and to the water that he drinks and to the fire on which he cooks his food, and he has been invited to ponder the question : What right do you have to behave independently of, or serve any other than, the God Whose creative power has brought you into being, and Whose provisions sustain you And how can you entertain the idea that after having once brought you into existence He has become so helpless and powerless that He cannot recreate you once again even if he wills to?

Then, in vv. 75-82 their suspicions in respect of the Qur'an have been refuted and they have been made to realize how fortunate they are that instead of deriving any benefit from the great blessing that the Qur'an is, they are treating it with scant attention and have set only this share of theirs in it that they deny it. If one seriously considers this matchless argument that has been presented in two brief sentences about the truth of the Qur'an, one will find in it the same kind of firm and stable system as exists among the stars and planets of the Universe, and the same is the proof of the fact that its Author is the same Being Who has created the Universe. Then the disbelievers have been told that this Book is inscribed in that Writ of Destiny which is beyond the reach of the creatures, as if to say "You think it is brought down by the devils to Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), whereas none but the pure angels has any access to the means by which it reaches Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from the well guarded Tablet."

In conclusion, man has been warned, as if to say: "You may brad and boast as you like and may shut your eyes to the truths in your arrogance of independence, but death is enough to open your eyes. At death you become helpless: you cannot save your own parents; you cannot save your children; you cannot save your religious guided and beloved leaders. They all die in front of your vary eyes while you look on helplessly. If there is no supreme power ruling over you, and your this assumption is correct that you are all in all in the world, and there is no God, then why don't you restore to the dying person his soul?Just as you are helpless in this, so it is also beyond your power to stop Allah from calling the people to account and mete out rewards and punishments to them. You may or may not believe it, but every dying person will surely see his own end after death. If he belongs to those nearest to God, he will see the good end meant for them if he be from among the righteous, he will see the end prepared for the righteous; and if he be from among the deniers of the truth, he will see the end destined for the criminals.

Surah Al-Isra - El Viaje Nocturno
Ayah 1
Glorificado sea Quien transportó a Su Siervo durante la noche, desde la mezquita sagrada a la mezquita lejana cuyos alrededores bendije, para mostrarle algunos de Mis signos. Él todo lo oye, todo lo ve.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
Ayah 2
He revelado a Moisés el Libro como guía para el pueblo de Israel, y les ordené: "No tomen protector fuera de Mí".
وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ هُدًى لِّبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَلَّا تَتَّخِذُوا مِن دُونِي وَكِيلًا
Ayah 3
¡Él era un descendiente de quienes salvé junto a Noé [en el arca]! Fue un siervo agradecido.
ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا
Ayah 4
He revelado en el Libro lo que decreté para el pueblo de Israel: "Corromperán la Tierra dos veces y se convertirán en tiranos soberbios.
وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي الْكِتَابِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَتَعْلُنَّ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا
Ayah 5
Cuando corrompan por primera vez, enviaré contra ustedes siervos Míos en huestes de gran fortaleza y rudeza, que atacarán sus hogares. Esta promesa será cumplida.
فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ أُولَاهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَادًا لَّنَا أُولِي بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ فَجَاسُوا خِلَالَ الدِّيَارِ ۚ وَكَانَ وَعْدًا مَّفْعُولًا
Ayah 6
Luego les permitiré que retornen a sus hogares [victoriosos] expulsándolos. Los agraciaré con bienes materiales e hijos y los convertiré en un pueblo numeroso.
ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَا لَكُمُ الْكَرَّةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَمْدَدْنَاكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيرًا
Ayah 7
Si obran bien será en beneficio propio, pero si obran mal será en contra suya. Cuando corrompan por segunda vez, los vencerán [sus enemigos] e ingresarán al Templo como lo hicieron la primera vez y devastarán todo lo que encuentren.
إِنْ أَحْسَنتُمْ أَحْسَنتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَا ۚ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ لِيَسُوءُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُوا الْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا مَا عَلَوْا تَتْبِيرًا
Ayah 8
Luego su Señor se apiadará de ustedes, pero si reinciden [en la corrupción] los volveré a castigar. El Infierno será prisión para los que se nieguen a creer.
عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَن يَرْحَمَكُمْ ۚ وَإِنْ عُدتُّمْ عُدْنَا ۘ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ حَصِيرًا
Ayah 9
El Corán guía por el sendero más justo y firme, y di a los creyentes que obran rectamente que recibirán una gran recompensa.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا كَبِيرًا
Ayah 10
Pero a quienes no crean en la otra vida les he preparado un castigo doloroso.
وَأَنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
Ayah 11
El ser humano ruega a Dios el mal con la misma facilidad con que ruega pidiendo el bien: el ser humano es muy precipitado.
وَيَدْعُ الْإِنسَانُ بِالشَّرِّ دُعَاءَهُ بِالْخَيْرِ ۖ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ عَجُولًا
Ayah 12
He hecho del día y de la noche dos signos: el signo de la noche es la oscuridad, y el signo del día es la luminosidad para que busquen el favor de su Señor, e hice que con estos dos signos pudieran saber el número de los años y el cómputo de los meses. Todas las cosas las he explicado detalladamente.
وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ آيَتَيْنِ ۖ فَمَحَوْنَا آيَةَ اللَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَا آيَةَ النَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةً لِّتَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ تَفْصِيلًا
Ayah 13
Todo ser humano será responsable por sus actos, y el Día de la Resurrección le entregaré un libro abierto.
وَكُلَّ إِنسَانٍ أَلْزَمْنَاهُ طَائِرَهُ فِي عُنُقِهِ ۖ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كِتَابًا يَلْقَاهُ مَنشُورًا
Ayah 14
[Se le dirá:] "Lee tu libro, pues hoy será suficiente con que tú mismo leas el registro de tus obras [para saber cuál será tu destino]".
اقْرَأْ كِتَابَكَ كَفَىٰ بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا
Ayah 15
Quien siga la guía será en beneficio propio, pero quien se desvíe solo se perjudicará a sí mismo. Nadie cargará con pecados ajenos. No he castigado a ningún pueblo sin antes haberle enviado un Mensajero.
مَّنِ اهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِي لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّىٰ نَبْعَثَ رَسُولًا
Ayah 16
Cuando quiero destruir una ciudad permito que sus dirigentes siembren la corrupción, entonces la sentencia contra ella se cumple y la destruyo totalmente.
وَإِذَا أَرَدْنَا أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا الْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَاهَا تَدْمِيرًا
Ayah 17
Así es como he destruido a muchas generaciones luego de Noé. ¡Es suficiente con que Dios vea y sepa de los pecados que cometen Sus siervos!
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِن بَعْدِ نُوحٍ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا
Ayah 18
Quienes prefieran los placeres transitorios de la vida mundanal sepan que se los concederé a quien Yo quiera, pero les destinaré el Infierno, donde ingresarán humillados y condenados [por haberse olvidado de obrar para la otra vida].
مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُ فِيهَا مَا نَشَاءُ لِمَن نُّرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَاهَا مَذْمُومًا مَّدْحُورًا
Ayah 19
Mientras que a quienes anhelen la vida del más allá, sean creyentes y se esfuercen por alcanzarla, se les retribuirá por su esfuerzo.
وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الْآخِرَةَ وَسَعَىٰ لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُورًا
Ayah 20
A todos [en esta vida] se les concederá de los favores de tu Señor, a los unos y a los otros. Sus favores no le son vedados a nadie.
كُلًّا نُّمِدُّ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ وَهَـٰؤُلَاءِ مِنْ عَطَاءِ رَبِّكَ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ عَطَاءُ رَبِّكَ مَحْظُورًا
Ayah 21
Observa cómo he agraciado a unos sobre otros [con bienes materiales en este mundo], pero en la otra vida la distinción será mayor [entre los que creen y los que no creen].
انظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَلَلْآخِرَةُ أَكْبَرُ دَرَجَاتٍ وَأَكْبَرُ تَفْضِيلًا
Ayah 22
No adoren a otros junto a Dios, porque serán condenados y humillados.
لَّا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا آخَرَ فَتَقْعُدَ مَذْمُومًا مَّخْذُولًا
Ayah 23
Tu Señor ha ordenado que no adoren sino a Él y que honren a sus padres. Si uno de ellos o ambos llegan a la vejez, no sean insolentes con ellos, ni siquiera les digan: "¡Uf!" Háblenles siempre con bondad.
وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا ۚ إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَا أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا
Ayah 24
Trátenlos con humildad y compasión, y rueguen [por ellos diciendo]: "¡Oh, Señor mío! Ten misericordia de ellos como ellos la tuvieron conmigo cuando me criaron siendo niño".
وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
Ayah 25
Su Señor es Quien mejor conoce lo que hay en sus corazones. Si son piadosos, sepan que Él perdona a los que se arrepienten.
رَّبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِي نُفُوسِكُمْ ۚ إِن تَكُونُوا صَالِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ لِلْأَوَّابِينَ غَفُورًا
Ayah 26
Da a los parientes lo que es su derecho, también al pobre y al viajero insolvente, pero no derroches,
وَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَىٰ حَقَّهُ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَلَا تُبَذِّرْ تَبْذِيرًا
Ayah 27
porque los que derrochan son hermanos de los demonios, y el demonio fue ingrato con su Señor.
إِنَّ الْمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوا إِخْوَانَ الشَّيَاطِينِ ۖ وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِرَبِّهِ كَفُورًا
Ayah 28
Pero si no puedes darles una ayuda, y esperas una misericordia de tu Señor, excúsate con amabilidad.
وَإِمَّا تُعْرِضَنَّ عَنْهُمُ ابْتِغَاءَ رَحْمَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكَ تَرْجُوهَا فَقُل لَّهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّيْسُورًا
Ayah 29
No seas avaro ni tampoco derrochador, porque te verás censurado [en el primer caso] y arruinado [en el segundo].
وَلَا تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ الْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُومًا مَّحْسُورًا
Ayah 30
Tu Señor concede un sustento abundante a quien quiere, y se lo restringe a quien quiere. Él a Sus siervos los conoce bien, y los ve siempre.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا
Ayah 31
No maten a sus hijos por temor a la pobreza. Yo los sustento a ellos y a ustedes. Matarlos es un pecado gravísimo.
وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ خَشْيَةَ إِمْلَاقٍ ۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُهُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ قَتْلَهُمْ كَانَ خِطْئًا كَبِيرًا
Ayah 32
No se acerquen a lo que lleve a la fornicación, pues es una inmoralidad y un mal camino.
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا الزِّنَىٰ ۖ إِنَّهُ كَانَ فَاحِشَةً وَسَاءَ سَبِيلًا
Ayah 33
No maten, pues Dios lo ha prohibido, salvo con motivo justo. A quien se le dé muerte injustamente le concedo a su familiar directo o apoderado el derecho, pero que éste no mate buscando venganza. Su derecho [a exigir justicia] está legalmente garantizado.
وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۗ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظْلُومًا فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِ سُلْطَانًا فَلَا يُسْرِف فِّي الْقَتْلِ ۖ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مَنصُورًا
Ayah 34
No utilicen los bienes del huérfano a menos que sea para beneficiarlo, y entréguenselos cuando alcance la madurez. Cumplan con sus compromisos, porque se los interrogará por ellos.
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا مَالَ الْيَتِيمِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُ ۚ وَأَوْفُوا بِالْعَهْدِ ۖ إِنَّ الْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْئُولًا
Ayah 35
Midan y pesen con equidad. Esto es lo más conveniente y mejor para ustedes.
وَأَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ إِذَا كِلْتُمْ وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا
Ayah 36
No hagan ni digan nada si no tienen conocimiento. Serán interrogados acerca de [lo que hayan hecho con] su oído, vista y corazón.
وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۚ إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَـٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا
Ayah 37
No caminen por la Tierra con arrogancia, pues ella no se abrirá por su andar, ni tampoco podrán igualar a las montañas en altura [para ser tan imponentes como ellas].
وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّكَ لَن تَخْرِقَ الْأَرْضَ وَلَن تَبْلُغَ الْجِبَالَ طُولًا
Ayah 38
Todos estos comportamientos son perjudiciales para ustedes y detestables ante su Señor.
كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ كَانَ سَيِّئُهُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ مَكْرُوهًا
Ayah 39
Esto es parte de la sabiduría que tu Señor te ha revelado. No adoren a nadie junto a Dios porque serán arrojados en el Infierno, condenados y humillados.
ذَٰلِكَ مِمَّا أَوْحَىٰ إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ الْحِكْمَةِ ۗ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا آخَرَ فَتُلْقَىٰ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومًا مَّدْحُورًا
Ayah 40
¿Acaso creen que su Señor prefirió para ustedes los hijos varones y para Sí hijas que son los ángeles? Lo que dicen es muy grave.
أَفَأَصْفَاكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِالْبَنِينَ وَاتَّخَذَ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنَاثًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَقُولُونَ قَوْلًا عَظِيمًا
Ayah 41
En este Corán he expuesto todo tipo de argumentos para que reflexionen, pero [a algunos] esto los hace extraviarse aún más.
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِي هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا وَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا
Ayah 42
Diles: "Si junto a Dios hubiera otros dioses, como dicen [los idólatras], ellos buscarían acercarse al Señor del Trono [para complacerlo]".
قُل لَّوْ كَانَ مَعَهُ آلِهَةٌ كَمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذًا لَّابْتَغَوْا إِلَىٰ ذِي الْعَرْشِ سَبِيلًا
Ayah 43
¡Glorificado sea! Él está por encima de lo que dicen.
سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا
Ayah 44
Lo glorifican los siete cielos, la Tierra y todo cuanto hay en ellos. No existe nada que no Lo glorifique con alabanzas, aunque ustedes no puedan percibir sus glorificaciones. Él es Magnánimo, Perdonador.
تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ السَّمَاوَاتُ السَّبْعُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَإِن مِّن شَيْءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّهُ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًا
Ayah 45
Cuando recitas el Corán ponemos un velo imperceptible entre tú y quienes no creen en la otra vida.
وَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْآنَ جَعَلْنَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ حِجَابًا مَّسْتُورًا
Ayah 46
[Como respuesta a su rechazo] hice sus corazones duros y sus oídos sordos para que no pudieran comprender [el Mensaje]. Cuando mencionas en el Corán que tu Señor es la única divinidad [con derecho a ser adorada], te dan la espalda disgustados.
وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَحْدَهُ وَلَّوْا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِهِمْ نُفُورًا
Ayah 47
Yo bien sé cómo se burlan cuando te escuchan [recitar el Corán] o cuando hablan en secreto; y dicen los idólatras: "Están siguiendo a un hombre hechizado".
نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَسْتَمِعُونَ بِهِ إِذْ يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِذْ هُمْ نَجْوَىٰ إِذْ يَقُولُ الظَّالِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسْحُورًا
Ayah 48
Observa cómo te comparan y por ello se extravían. No pueden encontrar el camino.
انظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا لَكَ الْأَمْثَالَ فَضَلُّوا فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا
Ayah 49
Dicen: "¿Acaso cuando seamos huesos y polvo seremos resucitados y creados nuevamente?"
وَقَالُوا أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا وَرُفَاتًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا
Ayah 50
Respóndeles: "¡Sí! Aunque se conviertan en piedra, hierro
قُلْ كُونُوا حِجَارَةً أَوْ حَدِيدًا
Ayah 51
o cualquier otra materia que veneren en su pensamiento". Dirán: "¿Quién nos resucitará?" Respóndeles: "Quien los creó por primera vez". Pero negando con su cabeza te dirán: "¿Cuándo?" Diles: "Es posible que sea pronto".
أَوْ خَلْقًا مِّمَّا يَكْبُرُ فِي صُدُورِكُمْ ۚ فَسَيَقُولُونَ مَن يُعِيدُنَا ۖ قُلِ الَّذِي فَطَرَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۚ فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ إِلَيْكَ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هُوَ ۖ قُلْ عَسَىٰ أَن يَكُونَ قَرِيبًا
Ayah 52
El día que los convoque responderán alabándolo, y les parecerá que no han permanecido [en las tumbas] sino poco tiempo.
يَوْمَ يَدْعُوكُمْ فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ بِحَمْدِهِ وَتَظُنُّونَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Ayah 53
Exhorta a Mis siervos a hablar con respeto, porque el demonio quiere sembrar la discordia entre ellos. El demonio es el enemigo declarado del ser humano.
وَقُل لِّعِبَادِي يَقُولُوا الَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَنزَغُ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ كَانَ لِلْإِنسَانِ عَدُوًّا مُّبِينًا
Ayah 54
Su Señor conoce lo que hay en sus corazones. Si quiere tendrá misericordia con ustedes, o si quiere los castigará [con justicia]. Pero tú [¡oh, Mujámmad!] no eres responsable de lo que ellos hagan.
رَّبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ ۖ إِن يَشَأْ يَرْحَمْكُمْ أَوْ إِن يَشَأْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ ۚ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلًا
Ayah 55
Tu Señor conoce bien a quienes están en los cielos y en la Tierra. He favorecido a los Profetas unos sobre otros: a David le revelé los Salmos.
وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۗ وَلَقَدْ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَ النَّبِيِّينَ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۖ وَآتَيْنَا دَاوُودَ زَبُورًا
Ayah 56
Diles: "Aquellos que invocan en lugar de Dios no pueden salvarlos de ningún mal, ni siquiera evitarlo".
قُلِ ادْعُوا الَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُم مِّن دُونِهِ فَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ كَشْفَ الضُّرِّ عَنكُمْ وَلَا تَحْوِيلًا
Ayah 57
[Aquellos] a los que ustedes invocan buscan el medio de acercarse más a su Señor, anhelan Su misericordia y temen Su castigo. ¡Porque el castigo de tu Señor es temible!
أُولَـٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُ ۚ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُورًا
Ayah 58
No hay ninguna ciudad [de incrédulos] que no vaya a destruir o castigar antes del Día de la Resurrección. Esto es lo que ha sido decretado y registrado en el Libro [preservado].
وَإِن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا
Ayah 59
No les envié los milagros que pedían porque los desmentirían como lo hicieron los pueblos del pasado. Al pueblo de Zamud le envié la camella como un milagro evidente, pero cometieron la injusticia [de matarla]. Entonces les envié signos para atemorizarlos.
وَمَا مَنَعَنَا أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِالْآيَاتِ إِلَّا أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا الْأَوَّلُونَ ۚ وَآتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ النَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُوا بِهَا ۚ وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِالْآيَاتِ إِلَّا تَخْوِيفًا
Ayah 60
Cuando te dije [¡oh, Mujámmad!]: "Tu Señor tiene poder total sobre las personas [y Él te protegerá]". Lo que te mostré y el árbol maldito mencionado en el Corán, no es sino para probar la fe de las personas. Los atemorizo [con Mis signos], pero esto les incrementó aún más su desobediencia.
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لَكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ أَحَاطَ بِالنَّاسِ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَالشَّجَرَةَ الْمَلْعُونَةَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ ۚ وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ فَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا طُغْيَانًا كَبِيرًا
Ayah 61
[Recuerda] cuando dije a los ángeles: "Hagan una reverencia ante Adán". Todos hicieron la reverencia excepto Iblís, quien dijo: "¿Acaso voy a hacer una reverencia ante quien has creado de barro?"
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ قَالَ أَأَسْجُدُ لِمَنْ خَلَقْتَ طِينًا
Ayah 62
Dijo también: "¿Por qué lo has honrado más que a mí?" Si me das tiempo hasta el Día de la Resurrección desviaré a la mayoría de sus descendientes.
قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَكَ هَـٰذَا الَّذِي كَرَّمْتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنْ أَخَّرْتَنِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Ayah 63
Dijo [Dios]: "¡Vete! Y quienes de ellos te sigan merecerán el Infierno, pues es el castigo que les tengo reservado.
قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَمَن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ جَزَاؤُكُمْ جَزَاءً مَّوْفُورًا
Ayah 64
Seduce con tus palabras a quien puedas de ellos, arremete con tu caballería y con tu infantería. Hazte su socio inseparable en sus bienes e hijos y hazles las promesas que quieras. Pero sepan que el demonio solo hace promesas falsas".
وَاسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُم بِصَوْتِكَ وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِم بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ وَعِدْهُمْ ۚ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا
Ayah 65
[Dijo Dios:] "Pero no tienes poder alguno sobre Mis siervos creyentes". Es suficiente con tu Señor como protector [para quienes se encomiendan a Él].
إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ وَكِيلًا
Ayah 66
Su Señor es Quien impulsa los barcos en el mar para que con ellos puedan procurar Su favor. Él es Misericordioso con ustedes.
رَّبُّكُمُ الَّذِي يُزْجِي لَكُمُ الْفُلْكَ فِي الْبَحْرِ لِتَبْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا
Ayah 67
Cuando los alcanza una desgracia en el mar se dan cuenta que cuanto invocaban fuera de Dios no puede salvarlos, y que solo Dios es Quien puede hacerlo. Pero cuando los salva llevándolos a tierra firme, Lo niegan nuevamente. ¡El ser humano es ingrato!
وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ الضُّرُّ فِي الْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدْعُونَ إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ ۖ فَلَمَّا نَجَّاكُمْ إِلَى الْبَرِّ أَعْرَضْتُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ كَفُورًا
Ayah 68
¿Acaso se sienten a salvo de que Dios los haga tragar por la tierra o que les envíe un huracán? Si así lo hiciera, no encontrarían quién los pudiera proteger.
أَفَأَمِنتُمْ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمْ جَانِبَ الْبَرِّ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا لَكُمْ وَكِيلًا
Ayah 69
¿O se sienten seguros de que cuando se encuentren en el mar otra vez, Él no les envíe una tormenta y los ahogue como castigo a su ingratitud? Si así lo hiciera, no tendrían quién Le reclamara por ustedes.
أَمْ أَمِنتُمْ أَن يُعِيدَكُمْ فِيهِ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ فَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ قَاصِفًا مِّنَ الرِّيحِ فَيُغْرِقَكُم بِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ ۙ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا بِهِ تَبِيعًا
Ayah 70
He honrado a los hijos de Adán y les he facilitado los medios para viajar por la tierra y por el mar, les he proveído de todo lo bueno y los he favorecido sobre muchas otras criaturas.
وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ وَحَمَلْنَاهُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًا
Ayah 71
El día que convoque a todos los seres humanos junto a sus guías y les entregue sus registros, a quien le sea entregado el libro de sus obras en la derecha, [se alegrará] leyendo su libro porque verá que no ha sido defraudado en lo más mínimo.
يَوْمَ نَدْعُو كُلَّ أُنَاسٍ بِإِمَامِهِمْ ۖ فَمَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابَهُمْ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا
Ayah 72
Pero quien haya estado en esta vida ciego [en la incredulidad], en la otra también lo estará y más perdido aún.
وَمَن كَانَ فِي هَـٰذِهِ أَعْمَىٰ فَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ أَعْمَىٰ وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
Ayah 73
Los idólatras [¡oh, Mujámmad!] querían persuadirte que cedieras a favor de sus peticiones, contrariando las instrucciones que te había revelado. Si lo hubieras hecho, te habrían convertido en su aliado.
وَإِن كَادُوا لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ عَنِ الَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَفْتَرِيَ عَلَيْنَا غَيْرَهُ ۖ وَإِذًا لَّاتَّخَذُوكَ خَلِيلًا
Ayah 74
Si no te hubiera fortalecido, te habrías inclinado a aceptar parte de sus peticiones.
وَلَوْلَا أَن ثَبَّتْنَاكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْئًا قَلِيلًا
Ayah 75
Y si hubieras cedido en algo, te habría hecho sufrir un castigo doble en esta vida y en la otra. No hubieras encontrado quién te protegiera de Mí.
إِذًا لَّأَذَقْنَاكَ ضِعْفَ الْحَيَاةِ وَضِعْفَ الْمَمَاتِ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ عَلَيْنَا نَصِيرًا
Ayah 76
Casi logran intimidarte para que abandones tu tierra [La Meca], pero si lo hubiesen logrado no habrían permanecido en ella sino poco tiempo [porque habría enviado sobre ellos el castigo].
وَإِن كَادُوا لَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ لِيُخْرِجُوكَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَإِذًا لَّا يَلْبَثُونَ خِلَافَكَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Ayah 77
Lo mismo sucedió con los Mensajeros que envié antes de ti. No encontrarás cambio alguno en Mi proceder.
سُنَّةَ مَن قَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَا ۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ لِسُنَّتِنَا تَحْوِيلًا
Ayah 78
Observa las oraciones prescritas desde pasado el mediodía hasta la oscuridad de la noche, y también la oración del alba, y prolonga la recitación en ella, pues ésta es atestiguada [por los ángeles de la noche y el día].
أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِدُلُوكِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَىٰ غَسَقِ اللَّيْلِ وَقُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ ۖ إِنَّ قُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًا
Ayah 79
También levántate parte de la noche a realizar oraciones voluntarias, para que tu Señor te conceda un rango digno de alabanza.
وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِ نَافِلَةً لَّكَ عَسَىٰ أَن يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًا
Ayah 80
Di: "¡Señor mío! Concédeme una entrada y una salida dignas [en todos los asuntos de mi vida], y concédeme los medios para lograr el triunfo".
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَل لِّي مِن لَّدُنكَ سُلْطَانًا نَّصِيرًا
Ayah 81
Y di: "Ha triunfado la Verdad y se ha disipado la falsedad; la falsedad siempre se desvanece".
وَقُلْ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ ۚ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا
Ayah 82
Revelé el Corán, que es cura para los corazones y misericordia para los creyentes, pero al mismo tiempo no hace sino aumentar la perdición de los idólatras.
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
Ayah 83
El incrédulo, cuando lo agracio, no Me agradece por arrogancia; pero cuando lo aflige un mal se desespera.
وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَىٰ بِجَانِبِهِ ۖ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ كَانَ يَئُوسًا
Ayah 84
Diles: "Que cada uno obre como le plazca, pero sepan que su Señor conoce a quien está mejor encaminado".
قُلْ كُلٌّ يَعْمَلُ عَلَىٰ شَاكِلَتِهِ فَرَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ هُوَ أَهْدَىٰ سَبِيلًا
Ayah 85
Te preguntan acerca del espíritu. Diles: "El espíritu es una de las creaciones de Dios, de las que solo Él tiene conocimiento. No se les ha permitido acceder sino a una pequeña parte del inmenso conocimiento de Dios".
وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ ۖ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي وَمَا أُوتِيتُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Ayah 86
Si quisiera, borraría todo lo que te he revelado, y entonces no encontrarías quién abogara por ti ante Mí [para que lo pudieras recordar].
وَلَئِن شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلًا
Ayah 87
Pero no lo haré por misericordia. El favor con el que tu Señor te ha agraciado es inmenso.
إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّ فَضْلَهُ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ كَبِيرًا
Ayah 88
Diles: "Si los seres humanos y los yinnes se unieran para redactar un texto similar al Corán, no podrían lograrlo, aunque se ayudaran mutuamente".
قُل لَّئِنِ اجْتَمَعَتِ الْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَىٰ أَن يَأْتُوا بِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ لَا يَأْتُونَ بِمِثْلِهِ وَلَوْ كَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ ظَهِيرًا
Ayah 89
He expuesto a los seres humanos en este Corán toda clase de ejemplos. Pero la mayoría de las personas no creen y rechazan la Verdad.
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِي هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ فَأَبَىٰ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا
Ayah 90
Dicen [los que se niegan a creer]: "No creeremos en ti hasta que no hagas fluir para nosotros vertientes de la tierra
وَقَالُوا لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ تَفْجُرَ لَنَا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ يَنبُوعًا
Ayah 91
o poseas un huerto con palmeras y vides, y hagas brotar en él ríos,
أَوْ تَكُونَ لَكَ جَنَّةٌ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَعِنَبٍ فَتُفَجِّرَ الْأَنْهَارَ خِلَالَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
Ayah 92
o hagas descender sobre nosotros un castigo del cielo como advertiste, o nos traigas a Dios y a los ángeles para que los podamos ver,
أَوْ تُسْقِطَ السَّمَاءَ كَمَا زَعَمْتَ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا أَوْ تَأْتِيَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ قَبِيلًا
Ayah 93
o poseas una casa de oro o asciendas al cielo, y aun así no creeremos en ti a menos que nos traigas del cielo un libro que podamos leer". Diles: "¡Glorificado sea mi Señor! Pero, ¿no soy acaso solo un ser humano enviado como Mensajero?"
أَوْ يَكُونَ لَكَ بَيْتٌ مِّن زُخْرُفٍ أَوْ تَرْقَىٰ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَلَن نُّؤْمِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتَّىٰ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا كِتَابًا نَّقْرَؤُهُ ۗ قُلْ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّي هَلْ كُنتُ إِلَّا بَشَرًا رَّسُولًا
Ayah 94
Lo que impidió que creyera la gente cuando se les presentaron los Mensajeros con la guía fue la misma retórica: [Decían] "¿No encontró Dios nada mejor que enviar a un ser humano como Mensajero?"
وَمَا مَنَعَ النَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا إِذْ جَاءَهُمُ الْهُدَىٰ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا أَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ بَشَرًا رَّسُولًا
Ayah 95
Diles: "Si los ángeles habitaran la Tierra, entonces les habría enviado del cielo un ángel como Mensajero".
قُل لَّوْ كَانَ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَلَائِكَةٌ يَمْشُونَ مُطْمَئِنِّينَ لَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ مَلَكًا رَّسُولًا
Ayah 96
Diles: "Dios es suficiente testigo de mi veracidad entre ustedes y yo. Él está bien informado sobre Sus siervos y los observa".
قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا
Ayah 97
A quien Dios guíe estará bien encaminado, pero a quienes permita que se extravíen nadie los podrá socorrer salvo Él. Los congregaré de cabeza el Día de la Resurrección, ciegos, mudos y sordos. El Infierno será su morada; siempre que el fuego se atenúe avivaré su llama.
وَمَن يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ مِن دُونِهِ ۖ وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ عُمْيًا وَبُكْمًا وَصُمًّا ۖ مَّأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ كُلَّمَا خَبَتْ زِدْنَاهُمْ سَعِيرًا
Ayah 98
Ese será su castigo por no haber creído en Mis milagros y haber dicho: "¿Acaso cuando seamos huesos y polvo seremos resucitados y creados nuevamente?"
ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَقَالُوا أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا وَرُفَاتًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا
Ayah 99
¿Acaso no ven que Dios, Quien ha creado los cielos y la Tierra, tiene el poder de crearlos nuevamente? Les ha establecido un plazo determinado para su resurrección, pero los idólatras lo niegan con incredulidad.
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمْ أَجَلًا لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى الظَّالِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورًا
Ayah 100
Diles: "Si tuvieran en sus manos las arcas de mi Señor, no las compartirían por temor a empobrecer. ¡Qué avaro es el ser humano!"
قُل لَّوْ أَنتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَائِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّي إِذًا لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ الْإِنفَاقِ ۚ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ قَتُورًا
Ayah 101
Concedí a Moisés nueve milagros evidentes. Pregunta [¡oh, Mujámmad!] al pueblo de Israel si no es verdad que cuando [Moisés] se presentó ante el Faraón, éste le dijo: "¡Oh, Moisés! Creo que estás afectado por un hechizo".
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ تِسْعَ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ ۖ فَاسْأَلْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ إِذْ جَاءَهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ فِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّي لَأَظُنُّكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ مَسْحُورًا
Ayah 102
Dijo [Moisés]: "Tú sabes bien que solo el Señor de los cielos y de la Tierra ha enviado estos milagros claros. ¡Oh, Faraón! Creo que estás perdido".
قَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا أَنزَلَ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ إِلَّا رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ بَصَائِرَ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّكَ يَا فِرْعَوْنُ مَثْبُورًا
Ayah 103
[El Faraón] quiso expulsarlos de la tierra, pero lo ahogué junto a su ejército.
فَأَرَادَ أَن يَسْتَفِزَّهُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُ جَمِيعًا
Ayah 104
Luego dije al pueblo de Israel: "Habiten la tierra y sepan que cuando llegue el Día del Juicio del que Dios les advirtió, los haré comparecer a todos".
وَقُلْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اسْكُنُوا الْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ جِئْنَا بِكُمْ لَفِيفًا
Ayah 105
Lo he revelado [al Corán] con la verdad y lo he protegido para que así les llegue. No te he enviado [¡oh, Mujámmad!] sino como albriciador y amonestador.
وَبِالْحَقِّ أَنزَلْنَاهُ وَبِالْحَقِّ نَزَلَ ۗ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا
Ayah 106
Te he revelado el Corán en partes para que se lo recites gradualmente a la gente. Te lo he ido revelando poco a poco.
وَقُرْآنًا فَرَقْنَاهُ لِتَقْرَأَهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ عَلَىٰ مُكْثٍ وَنَزَّلْنَاهُ تَنزِيلًا
Ayah 107
Diles: "Crean o no crean en él [es su responsabilidad]". Quienes fueron agraciados con el conocimiento de las revelaciones anteriores, cuando escuchan la recitación del Corán se prosternan ante Dios.
قُلْ آمِنُوا بِهِ أَوْ لَا تُؤْمِنُوا ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهِ إِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا
Ayah 108
Y dicen: "¡Glorificado sea nuestro Señor! La promesa de nuestro Señor se ha cumplido".
وَيَقُولُونَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِن كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولًا
Ayah 109
Se prosternan ante Dios con los ojos llenos de lágrimas, y [el Corán] les acrecienta su humildad y sumisión.
وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا ۩
Ayah 110
Diles: "Ya sea que Lo invoquen diciendo: ¡Oh, Dios!, ¡Oh, Compasivo!, O cualquier otro nombre con el que Le invoquen, Él los oirá. Sepan que Él posee los nombres [y atributos] más sublimes. Cuando realicen una oración moderen su voz en la recitación, no la hagan con voz muy alta ni tampoco en silencio".
قُلِ ادْعُوا اللَّهَ أَوِ ادْعُوا الرَّحْمَـٰنَ ۖ أَيًّا مَّا تَدْعُوا فَلَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا وَابْتَغِ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا
Ayah 111
Di: "¡Alabado sea Dios! Él no tiene ningún hijo ni tiene asociado alguno en Su soberanía ni necesita de ningún socorredor". ¡Glorifica a Dios proclamando Su grandeza!
وَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ وَلِيٌّ مِّنَ الذُّلِّ ۖ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًا

Quran

is the holy scripture of Islam. Muslims believe that it is the literal word of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎), revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) over a period of 23 years. The Quran is composed of 114 Suras (chapters) and contains 6,236 Ayat (verses). Muslim beliefs and practices are based on the Quran and the Sunnah (the teachings and example of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم)).

Meccan Surahs

The Meccan Surahs are the earliest revelations that were sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). They were revealed in Mecca, hence their name. These revelations form the foundation of the Islamic faith and contain guidance for Muslims on how to live their lives. The Meccan Surahs are also notable for their poetic beauty and lyrical prose.

Medinan Surahs

The Medinan Surahs of the noble Quran are the latest 24 Surahs that, according to Islamic tradition, were revealed at Medina after Prophet Muhammad's (صلى الله عليه وسلم) hijra from Mecca. These Surahs were revealed by Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) when the Muslim community was larger and more developed, as opposed to their minority position in Mecca.
